PROSA Books

Since 2020, current and former PROSA learners have been writing literary texts together. In the course of community-based cultural mediation, they ask themselves the question of who is talking about whom, what do we want to tell, what stories do we want to capture? What is racism? – and critically deal with art and knowledge production.
This has resulted in three books by and for learners. The texts are marked in color by difficulty. They are complemented by writing impulses and suggestions that invite readers and teachers to write their own texts.

PROSA wächst

From the spring of 2023, PROSA cooperated for a third book with the Institute of Language Art at the University of Applied Arts Vienna. For this purpose, the learners from PROSA and students undertook excursions to the Botanical Garden, a gym and construction sites in the city. The subsequent reflection and writing processes revolved around the term growth. The book was presented again in the Literaturhaus Wien:
We encounter growth when we talk about nature, but also when we talk about cities or human bodies. It is needed in business and in art. Families can grow. Just as knowledge. Or love. It is not so easy to say what it means in our present time that “something grows”? What should grow in our society and what not?

PROSA für welt

For the book project PROSA für Welt, the school is now working together with the Weltmuseum Wien. Since autumn 2021, active and former learners have started a writing process that approaches the Weltmuseum and the exhibition objects. The texts produced here will appear in another book, which can be used as learning material both in the World Museum and in the PROSA school, and through the sale of which new school places will be financed.

Prosa für PROSA

In autumn 2020, Baş, Kieser and Pressl started a writing process with former PROSA learners: What stories do we want to capture? A central concern was the encouragement of a literary writing that is free from all expectations, both thematically and linguistically. This resulted in texts that depict the writing, working, living and learning in Vienna in its many facets. The sale of the book will finance new school places.
